How Do I Search Knowledge Base Articles?

Searching the Service Portal

  1. In the top-right corner of any page, click the globe icon  to the left of the search bar. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Select  Knowledge Base from the listed options.
  3. Enter your search terms in the search bar.   
    a. To use a search tag, type a " # " (hash tag symbol) in front of your search term. Example: #email
    b.  A list of tagged search terms will appear below the search field preceded by a tag icon. Click the tagged search term that best fits your needs so see the Articles that use that search tag. 
  4. Either click the magnifying glass next to the search bar or press Enter on your keyboard.
  5. A new page will open that returns all the Knowledge Base articles that result from your search term.
     

Browsing by Category

  1. Click Knowledge Base entry in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
  2. Check the "Popular Articles" and "Recent Articles" sections on the right side of the page to see if your topic of interest is there. If not, you can search the categories listed on the left side.
  3. Click on a Category to view a list of articles on that topic. Note that some Categories also contain Subcategories, which will have their own article lists.
     

Advanced Search

  1. Click the Knowledge Base entry in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
  2. In the navigation bar that appears on the next page, click Search.
  3. Use the advanced search menu to specify search terms, category, article status, owner, and more.
