Install VPN Client for Remote Desktop (RDP) Users on a Personal PC or Laptop

Configure VPN access for Remote Desktop Access

The following article is for Employees/Faculty who have been granted Remote Desktop Access (RDP) to their workstations. If you need access to your office desktop please Submit a Ticket.

Once RDP access has been granted, you will need to install GlobalProtect VPN Client on your laptop/computer. Please remember this VPN client is ONLY for Remote Desktop Access.

1. Open a web browser and type to: https://securevpn.broward.edu and authenticate to One Access.

2. Download the appropriate client. 

  • Windows 32bit OS - Older operating systems, but is more compatible with systems
  • Windows 64bit OS - Newer operating systems such as Windows 7, 10. If the 64bit does not work, use the 32bit OS
  • Mac OS - This is for Apple devices

3. to run the GlobalProtect App, double Click to downloaded  the file.

4. Move through all the default options until the software is installed, Click Next

5. Once installed, you will be prompted to add a profile. Type in: securevpn.broward.edu

If you are NOT prompted go to step 6. Otherwise proceed to step 11.

6. If you did not get the prompt in step 5. Please click on the GlobalProtect icon in the taskbar.

7. Select the three lines on the top right of the client and select Settings.

8. Once in GlobalProtect Settings, select Add

9. Type in: securevpn.broward.edu and click Save

10. Close GlobalProtect Settings window.

11. Please click on the GlobalProtect icon in the task bar.

12. Select Connect

13. This should launch a One Access login page. Please proceed to login with your BC credentials.

14. You should be connected after successful authentication.

15. Please proceed to the following instructions to configure your Remote Desktop Connection.
