How to send encrypted email from a Broward College account

Broward College supports sending encrypted emails using two encryption options:

First Option = Easiest/Most Preferred Option

  1. Open your new email message
  2. Simply add [encrypt] to your email, either in the subject line

    or somewhere in the body.

  3. If you don’t want it to be visible, you can change the font to white foreground after you add it.

Second Option = Using the Encrypt option in Outlook

  1. To initiate message encryption while composing an email in Outlook, select the "Options" tab.

  2. Select Encrypt

  3. There are four security settings available, pick the encryption that has the restrictions you want to enforce, such as Encrypt-Only, Do Not Forward, Broward College-Confidential or Broward College-Confidential View Only.

Once you “select” one of the Encrypt options and finish composing your email you have go back to the “Message” tab to then choose send.

Your outbound message will be encrypted and your recipients will receive a notice that they have been sent an encrypted email and will be guided through the process of securely opening and reading the message.
