Signing a PDF document without signature panel - Adobe Acrobat Pro (Faculty\Staff)

There are many times that users are sent a PDF document that needs a digital signature, however, the form was not configured with a signature panel. Adobe Acrobat Pro and Reader will allow you to place a signature box and use your digital signature.

1. Open the PDF to be signed with Adobe Acrobat Pro. This is installed at all computers at the College.
2. Verify that there is an area to sign first, then once located we can proceed with the signature. The screenshot below shows the area where we want to add the signature:

3. Next you will want to click on the "Fill & Sign" tab at the top right corner. Please see the screenshot below, your tab should be located in that area.

4. A new panel on the right will appear. You will now click on the "Place signature" button.

5. Since the document did not have a panel set, Adobe will now want you to drag a new rectangle in the area where you want the signature to go. Click on the "Drag New Signature Rectangle"

6. Now just use your mouse to drag and create a rectangle in the area where the signature will be placed. In this case it is right above the signature line.

7. If you don't have a digital signature saved, then you can create one now. On the pop-up select "Anew digital ID I want to create now". If you already have a digital signature, you can select it on the same pop-up.

8.Continue clicking next with he default options.

9. Your information will show, you can click next and leave the defaults. Thi information is automatically pulled from your account.

10. Now you will enter in a password for the signature and it will be saved for future use. If you don't remember your password in the future, you can always create another signature following the steps above.Click on "Finish".

11. The final step is to sign the document. Enter in the password you just created for your signature and then click "Sign".

12. Adobe will now ask you to save the document. You can give it another name, such as appending "signed" to the end of the name.

13. Your document is now signed in the desired location.
