Hurricane Preparedness

In the event of a hurricane threatening South Florida, we encourage the Broward College community to:

• Remain updated on the situation:
  • Register or update your information for Broward College's BC Alert
  • Refer to Broward County's hurricane preparedness information: https://www.broward.org/Hurricane/Pages/Default.aspx
  • Refer to Miami-Dade County's hurricane preparedness information: https://www.miamidade.gov/global/emergency/hurricane/home.page
  • Refer to Monroe County's hurricane preparedness information: https://www.monroecounty-fl.gov/1214/Hurricane-Prepardness 
     
• Back up all important files/documents:
  • For work and school files, OneDrive is available to faculty/staff, and actively enrolled students.
  • For personal files, Google and Microsoft accounts have limited free storage for gmail and hotmail/msn users. 

Additionally, employees are encouraged to complete the following safety measures in their office:

• Turn off and unplug all electronic equipment, including computers, monitors, printers, etc. 
• Secure essential files or documents by placing them in cabinets or drawers.
• Close and lock all doors, windows or openings that lead directly outside.
