Zoom Settings for Virtual Office Hours
- Meeting ID: Use a Generated ID, not your Personal Meeting ID. Reserve your Personal Meeting ID for other, ad hoc meetings.
- Meeting Password: Not required but recommended.
- Video: Choose Off for Host and Participant, so hosts and participants can choose when/if to share video.
- Audio: Choose Both Telephone and Computer Audio so participants can connect either way.
- Meeting Options:
- Join Before Host: No, uncheck; By enabling, the waiting room will not apply
- Mute Participants Upon Entry: Yes. Permits participants to choose when to unmute themselves.
- Enable Waiting Room: Yes. Essential for handling one on one meetings. Students are added to the waiting room in the order they arrived.
To access Waiting Room settings, start the Zoom application, click the gear on right hand side, select General and View more Settings.
Enable Waiting Room
Edit Options; select Everyone
- Only Authenticated Users Can Join: Yes, all registered students have a valid Broward account and are required to login to authenticate.
If someone attempts to login without a valid account then they will receive the message below.
After office hours are completed revert Waiting Room Options back to “Users not in your account” otherwise all students will enter the waiting room at your next scheduled class.
