How can I change my password using a Mac?

Passwords are handled a little differently on Apple computers. Your passwords are stored in a section of the computer known as "keychains" When you change your password here at Broward College you will need to take one extra step in order to ensure your new password is stored correctly on the Mac.

When the date gets closer to changing your password at Broward College, your Mac will start to prompt you to change your password - letting you know how many days you have left before it expires.

  1. Select "Change Password" when you are ready and enter your new password as shown below:
  2. The system will then notify you that it was unable to unlock your keychain and prompt you with the following message. Please select "Update Keychain Password"
  3. You will be presented with the following screen. Please enter your OLD password and select "OK". The system will now log you in and you will not be prompted any further with "keychain" errors. You will continue using your new password for every function on the Mac.
  4. You will receive a message, "Passwords for all selected resources were successfully changed." Click OK. Your password will be reset to this new one the next time you log in to the system.
